AI is becoming embedded in scientific workflows. Human-relevant biology is changing how we think about translation. New therapeutic modalities are expanding what is possible. And perhaps most importantly, scientists are collaborating across disciplines in ways that were difficult to imagine only a few years ago.

At o2h Discovery, our role is not simply to follow these changes but to participate in them. Sometimes that means investing in new scientific platforms. Sometimes it means supporting founders through initiatives such as Kickstarter and InflexionTx. Sometimes it means creating communities like Cambridge Wide Open Week where ideas, people and capital collide.

This edition brings together many of those stories. Some are about science. Others are about infrastructure, partnerships and community. Together they reflect our belief that innovation rarely happens in isolation. It grows where curiosity, collaboration and execution come together.

Hauxton Meadows: Envisioning the Laboratory of the Future

We are excited to bring forward Hauxton Meadows to provide much-needed premium laboratory space for scientific innovation. The Meadows is a next-generation 90,000 sq.ft life science research facility designed specifically for AI-enabled biotechnology companies while introducing flexible robotic laboratories that reduce operating costs and improve research productivity. Located in close proximity to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, South Cambridge Station & University of Cambridge, the site is helpfully connected to academia, science parks and techbio clusters.

The future of drug discovery lies in the convergence of artificial intelligence, robotics and laboratory automation. As pharmaceutical companies seek to improve R&D productivity and timelines, investment is rapidly shifting towards self-driving Laboratories that integrate AI-driven experimental design with automated execution and continuous learning, also known as 'lab-in-the-loop'. Purpose-built to accommodate both hybrid and fully autonomous laboratory environments, The Meadows provides a future-ready platform for organisations developing the next generation of AI-enabled therapeutics.

Advancing Our Discovery Platform

ADC & Targeted Conjugate Discovery
Antibody-drug conjugates are rapidly becoming one of the most active areas of oncology drug discovery, driven by advances in linker chemistry, payload design and targeted delivery. Supporting these increasingly sophisticated programmes requires expertise across multiple scientific disciplines. At o2h Discovery, our capabilities span payload chemistry, peptide-based linker technologies and conjugation-ready building blocks, underpinned by medicinal chemistry, peptide synthesis and advanced analytical sciences. Bringing these capabilities together within an integrated workflow enables ADC and targeted conjugate programmes to progress more efficiently from concept through candidate selection.
 

Novel Biology
Human-relevant biology is becoming increasingly important in early drug discovery, providing models that better reflect disease biology and therapeutic response than conventional cell-based systems. Our Novel Biology platform is focused on advancing New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), including organoids, spheroids and organ-on-a-chip technologies, helping generate more predictive data earlier in the discovery process.
 

PR&D and Scale-up
Our integrated PR&D and Scale-up capabilities bridge discovery chemistry with process development, enabling efficient route optimisation, technology transfer and non-GMP manufacturing. Supported by purpose-built PR&D laboratories and a dedicated kilo lab equipped with 20 L, 50 L and 100 L jacketed glass reactors operating across a –45 °C to 250 °C temperature range, we help partners scale promising compounds safely, efficiently and with sustainability in mind, ensuring a smoother transition from discovery to development.
 

DMPK: Faster Turnaround, Deeper Integration
Generating the right ADME and pharmacokinetic data at the right stage can significantly influence downstream decision-making. As discovery programmes become increasingly data-driven, integrating DMPK earlier into the workflow is becoming essential rather than optional. Our dedicated DMPK laboratory has been established to provide that integration alongside medicinal chemistry and biology.

Building Our Biocatalysis Capability
Biocatalysis is opening new possibilities for designing more selective and sustainable synthetic routes in drug discovery. As part of our ongoing capability development, we are establishing our biocatalysis platform, with the required enzyme technologies and supporting infrastructure currently being introduced. Once operational, these capabilities will complement our existing chemistry expertise, broaden our synthetic toolbox, and provide partners with new approaches to solving complex chemistry challenges.
Driving Sustainable Discovery: Green Chemistry
Green Chemistry principles increasingly influence the way discovery programmes are designed and executed, from solvent selection and route optimisation to waste reduction and process safety. Supported by in-house thermal analysis, reaction calorimetry and risk assessment capabilities, our approach seeks to balance scientific excellence with responsible and sustainable research practices. Strengthening Our Infrastructure

HRMS
To support increasingly complex discovery programmes, o2h Discovery is expanding its analytical platform with the Waters SYNAPT™ XS High Resolution Mass Spectrometer (HRMS). Combining high resolution accurate mass analysis with ion mobility separation (IMS), it strengthens the characterisation of small molecules, peptides, biologics and ADCs, while supporting structural elucidation, impurity profiling and metabolite identification.

Alchemy – from Idea to Lead/Dev Candidate
The Alchemy workflow by o2h co-discovery is a proprietary operating system that cuts the time from idea to a development candidate. It is an insight-driven integrated multi-modality drug discovery platform that combines in-house capabilities, proprietary tools, strategic partnerships, and novel technology platforms, all on an AI enabled backbone to create a best-in-class workflow. o2h Peptide Kickstarter
The o2h Peptide Kickstarter is an extended initiative to help early-stage biotech companies developing peptide therapeutics. Selected winners receive access to 100 high-purity peptides, up to 100 ADME data points, and up to six months of optimisation support to accelerate candidate progression. Cambridge Wide Open Week (CWOW)
CWOW 2026 expanded beyond Cambridge for the first time, bringing its vibrant life sciences festival to Oxford and London. Held from 11–19 June, the week welcomed 5,000+ attendees across 37 venues, with 280+ sessions, 250+ participating companies and delegates from 10+ countries. Our latest o2h ChaiTime – Discovery Club brought together biotech leaders for candid conversations on the future of drug discovery. Chaired by Sunil Shah, the session featured Sarah Skerratt (Isomorphic Labs) on AI-powered molecular prediction, David Barrett (Astellas Pharma) on induced proximity modalities, Nigel Ramsden (Cerevance) on covalent inhibitor discovery, and Hitesh Sanganee (Octopus Ventures) on AI's evolution from concept to real-world problem-solving.
